We've teamed up with our local Portlanders for our blog series called Portland Loves You to share their stories, style, favorite places and tips. Get to know your neighbor because they're damn awesome! We want to introduce you to Mimi aka Princess Dime Bag a Portland Dj from No Control working in local clubs and bars like Black Book, White Owl Social Club and Love Craft. We're so happy she's here in Portland to bring us music to dance to!

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Mimi and I DJ as Princess Dimebag and am part of a collective of women promoters, producers, DJs, and musicians called No Control.
What three songs are you currently into?
I'm currently into Dark N Lovely by Bbymutha, Take a Pic by Thast, and If It Ain't Foreign by K Rizz.
Did you experience obstacles any obstacles in the music industry? If so, what do you do to overcome them?
There are many obstacles to overcome being a woman in the music industry, like: mansplainers assuming you don't know how to DJ or set up or adjust your equipment and sound, and not getting paid as much as other male DJs who have corny taste in music. I overcome by trying to stay true to my own sound and introducing new music to the Portland club scene. It also helps that I have my No Control crew to look out for me and help me grow as an artist.
What is an issue you are passionate about?
I'm passionate about social justice and supporting my fellow LGBTQ artist community.
Your friends are visiting Portland - what is the first place you would take them?
The first place I would take a visiting friend is probably a dispensary.
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as princess zaddy. Sometimes a little bit femme, sometimes a little androgynous, depending on my mood.
What are your future steps?
My future steps would be to take over Portland with my No Control crew, and then the world!
